Whether you’re remodeling your whole home, a kitchen or bathroom, you want to look like you’re keeping it modern. You can go totally trendy or you can pick a few subtle modern touches. Here are some ideas you might want to incorporate when you plan your home remodel with your renovation company.
Color in the Kitchen
From colored cabinets to colored appliances, you have many options. High end appliance manufacturers have been producing brightly colored stoves and refrigerators for years, but only recently are more affordable options being produced. If you want to stick to traditional white, black or stainless for your appliances, look at your cabinetry color choices. Even semi-custom cabinets come in a wide array of colors. And don’t feel like you have to pick just one. Mixing cabinet colors is still a popular design choice.
Black is Back
Whether you’re remodeling a kitchen or bathroom, if color doesn’t suit your style and you want a muted color pallet, go with black cabinets. Black doesn’t show dirt and with just a pop of any color you can create a modern space you love. Plus, with gold, copper and bronze finishes making a comeback, all are great with black.
Forget Chrome and Nickel
If you’re looking at finishes for your hardware, chrome and nickel are out. Consider bronze or gold finishes for your faucet and towel bars. If you have a range exhaust hood, cover it with copper or choose a copper backsplash underneath your black cabinets. This is one of those changes you can make even if you’re not working with a renovation company on home remodel, but instead can do yourself.
For the bathroom we’re seeing more vanities with open shelving beneath the sink rather than an enclosed cabinet. In the kitchen, many homeowners are choosing to skip upper cabinets all together (which can save a lot of money) and go with either open shelves or nothing at all. A more minimalist approach is popular in 2019.
